Ahhh, the joy of welcoming a New Year! All the celebration, the parties, the hype, the family gathering, the gifts, the food we enjoy, the reflections, the plans and resolutions we make... It's truly a blank page we get every year to start writing a new chapter of this amazing book called life.
Unfortunately, not everyone take the time to reset over the holidays. To some people, end of the year is stressful and overwhelming. And on top of family gatherings, food preparation, gift purchasing, and travel, some people feel that the last thing they want is to work on anything else...
Maybe the skeptics don't even bother because they know that the stats are not in favor of accomplishing New Years resolution. Research says 80% of people give up on them by the 2nd week of February.... Why bother then, you may ask? Well, there is a reason why that percentage is so high! Mainly, it is because some people just desire and hope for new things to happen. They don't create new habits to actually accomplish and enjoy their goals.
My suggestion is to be crystal clear on your goals — what specific result will you accomplish? What's your why? How will you do it? What tools, strategies, or resources do you need to make it happen? And most importantly, what is the emotion you want to experience when you accomplish your goals? I have been applying this process for the past 3 years during goal setting preparation and it sets me for success every year.
The secret to accomplish anything in life is to actually follow through with actions! Whatever you set your mind and heart to do, just do it!
How about using a great planner to help you gain clarity, take the necessary actions and stay on track of your goals and dreams in 2018?

My last recommendation for a New Year and a New You! with exclamation point not a question mark is to apply new principles into your daily habits. How about living wholeheartedly?
I finished my first book of 2018 already and, as a new habit for this year, I'm reading for application and not for accumulation. The book I chose to apply the insights learned was Daring Greatly : How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead by Brene Brown. She is a scientist of human stories and as an academic and researcher, she has interviewed thousands of people about their life experiences, and from this data she draws insights about human behavior and emotions.
In this book, Brown expands her insights on shame, vulnerability and courage in to a philosophy of wholeheartedness. Wholehearted people, Brown argues, have learned strategies to deal with the hard events and emotions of life without closing down their hearts. She summarizes these strategies as 10 principles for wholehearted living, behaviors that her research has identified as common between the wholehearted, and that I decided to cultivate in my life for this year. The growing, evolution and contribution never stop! And I love it!
In the spirit of achieving your goals and living your dreams in 2018, choose to apply these principles daily and live wholeheartedly this year!
1- Cultivate Authenticity - Let go of what people think about you
2- Cultivate Self-Compassion - Let go of perfectionism
3- Cultivate a Resilient Spirit - Let go of numbing and powerlessness
4- Cultivate Gratitude and Joy - Let go of scarcity
5- Cultivate Intuition and Trusting Faith - Let go of the need for certainty
6- Cultivate Creativity - Let go of comparison
7 - Cultivate Play and Rest - Let go of exhaustion as a status symbol and productivity as self-worth
8- Cultivate Calm and Stillness - Let go of anxiety as a lifestyle
9- Cultivate Meaningful Work - Let go of self-doubt and "supposed to"
10- Cultivate Laughter, Song, and Dance - Let go of being cool and "always in control"
Daring Greatly is a wonderful introduction to Brene Brown’s work, and is also complimented well by The Power of Vulnerability: Teachings on Authenticity, Connection and Courage, a series of seminars recorded by brown with a live workshop audience. Essential listening.
I hope you feel empowered to apply these simple principles and use the planner as a tool to enhance your opportunities to make 2018 a magnificent year. It's up to you to take actions and as always, I'll be sharing life strategies to add value and cheer for your success all the way!
To a loving, wealthy, wholeheartedly magnificent 2018!
